Who writes this

The Founder

I grew up between America and Nigeria.

That means I have started over more times than I planned to. New country, new accent, new set of rules about what counts as normal. Every arrival was a day one whether I wanted one or not.

Here is what I learned doing it: starting over is not the dramatic thing people make it out to be. There is no clean break, no before-and-after photograph, no morning where you wake up as someone else. There is just the next day, and what you decide to do in it.

Most of what gets written about beginning again is written by people selling a transformation. Ninety days to a new you. A system. A framework. I have never once seen that work, in myself or in anyone else.

What works is smaller and much less impressive. You decide one thing in the morning. You do it. The next morning the count resets and you decide again. That is it. That is the entire method, and it is not a method, it is just how days actually work.

So DayOneToday is not a self-improvement brand. It is a daily note about beginning, written by someone who has had to do it more than once and does not think it is glamorous.

What's your DayOne today?
